Q: Describe the inflation and deflation cycle of intermittent pneumatic compression boots?

Answer: The pump runs on 60-second cycles:
  • 12 seconds of inflation and
  • 48 seconds of deflation

The cycle alternates so that inflation to one leg begins 30 seconds after inflation to the other.

The standard pump pressure is usually 40 mm Hg.
